“100 Questions for Ocean Winds”- a successful meeting for potential suppliers to the offshore wind industry in Poland

September 13, 2023. Ocean Winds (OW), one of the global leaders in the offshore wind industry, held another open Suppliers Day meeting of the BC-Wind project for Polish and foreign companies interested in supplying services and components in the offshore industry.

The “100 questions to OW” formula for the meeting worked perfectly – OW representatives answered specific questions from potential suppliers on a wide range of issues such as the timetable for investment implementation and the rules of the procurement process.
During the talks, Ocean Winds representatives presented the current status of the investment, purchasing plans for 2023-2024, the requirements the company places on contractors in the areas of health, safety and environmental protection, as well as its approach to innovation and cooperation with Wladyslawowo as a service base location for BC-Wind.

“The meeting with contractors is an important element of the company’s consistently implemented development strategy in Poland. We discussed contracting plans for this year and next and presented visualizations of the service port in Wladyslawowo and the onshore connection station in Choczewo. We also announced the decision to increase the farm’s capacity by 101MW, which will allow more wind turbines to be installed at the BC-Wind farm. Currently at 500MW, depending on the turbine supplier, the company is considering installing between 28 and 34 turbines. – explained Kacper Kostrzewa, Director of the BC-Wind offshore wind farm being developed by Ocean Winds in Poland.

December 30, 2022. Ocean Winds submitted a relevant application to Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A., which was supplemented on January 16 this year, and on August 29 the company received a decision on changes to the connection conditions. The change concerns the connection to the C-Wind grid forming the BC-Wind farm.

BC-Wind is an offshore wind farm located about 23 kilometers north of the coast, at the height of the Krokowa and Choczewo municipalities in Pomorskie Voivodeship.

Ocean Winds plans to begin commercial operation of the BC-Wind wind farm in 2027.
