On Monday morning (March 31, 2025), at the CRIST shipyard in Gdynia, a ceremony was held to sign an agreement between Ocean Winds and CRIST Offshore for the design, construction and commissioning of an offshore substation (OSS) for the BC-Wind offshore wind farm project in Poland. The event gathered over 120 participants, including representatives of the industry, public and local administration, academia and the media.
This was an important moment not only for Ocean Winds and CRIST Offshore, but also for the entire Polish offshore industry. The selection of CRIST Offshore as a Tier 1 supplier confirms the growing role of the Polish supply chain in the international offshore wind energy sector.
Dan Finch, Country Manager of Ocean Winds in Poland, emphasized:”It is a great honour and source of pride for us to establish a partnership with CRIST Offshore as our first Tier 1 supplier in Poland. We believe that this collaboration will not only contribute to the success of the BC-Wind project but also strengthen Poland’s position in the European offshore wind energy market, which has the potential to reach 300 GW of capacity within the next 10 years.
Kacper Kostrzewa, BC-Wind Project Director, recalled the history of the cooperation:
“I remember our first visit to CRIST in 2022 – these were only preliminary talks and an analysis of potential. Three years later, we are meeting here to sign a key agreement. This is proof that consistent dialogue and commitment to the development of the Polish supply chain bring real results.”
The signed agreement is not only another step in the implementation of the BC-Wind project, but also a confirmation of Ocean Winds’ commitment to the development of the Polish offshore sector and support for local suppliers.
