In Poland, the “Kariera z Wiatrem” (Career with the Wind) program remains a cornerstone of Ocean Winds’ educational outreach. Launched in the 2021/2022 school year in collaboration with the Industrial Academy of Development, this program equips students with crucial knowledge and skills in offshore wind energy. Targeting vocational high schools in Gdańsk, Częstochowa, Puck, Kłanino, and Szczecin, it prepares students for roles in Poland’s renewable energy sector.
During the 2023/2024 academic year, 171 students participated in the program, attending 100 hours of lectures and workshops. These sessions provided a comprehensive understanding of offshore wind energy and its future in Poland.
Aligned with our BC-Wind project in the Baltic Sea, the program is designed for students in technical education, especially those focused on electrical engineering and renewable energy. It offers insights into the strategic aspects of offshore wind energy development, supported by case studies from Ocean Winds’ global projects.
Key topics covered in the workshops included:
- Poland’s energy transition plans
- Growth potential of Poland’s offshore wind energy sector
- Processes and technologies involved in constructing offshore wind farms
These sessions have equipped students with a thorough understanding of industry developments and technological innovations. Additionally, the program has highlighted various educational pathways, encouraging students to pursue higher education in fields related to offshore wind energy.
The 2023/2024 academic year has highlighted the success and impact of “Kariera z Wiatrem.” It has broadened students’ knowledge and inspired them to envision promising futures in Poland’s offshore wind energy industry. The program exemplifies Ocean Winds’ commitment to developing the next generation of skilled professionals in renewable energy.
We are proud of the progress made and look forward to the continued success of “Kariera z Wiatrem” in empowering Poland’s future workforce in the next school year.
