Ocean Winds has signed an agreement with Bureau Veritas Polska for the certification of the BC-Wind offshore wind farm in Poland

• The certification will include a comprehensive assessment of the project at all stages of implementation, from design to commissioning, ensuring compliance with the highest safety and quality standards.
• As part of the process, two key certificates required by Polish law will be issued.

Ocean Winds, a joint venture formed by EDPR and ENGIE dedicated to offshore wind energy, has signed an agreement with Bureau Veritas Polska Sp. z o.o. to carry out the certification of the BC-Wind offshore wind farm project. The certification will be conducted in accordance with the IECRE OD-502:2018 scheme and applicable Polish regulations, including the Maritime Safety Act of August 18, 2011, on Maritime Safety, which promotes the generation of electricity at sea.

„We chose Bureau Veritas Polska as the certifier for our BC-Wind project due to their extensive experience in certifying offshore projects and their proven professionalism demonstrated in previ-ous collaborations on OW projects such as Moray West and Moray East. We are confident that part-nering with Bureau Veritas will help us achieve the highest standards of safety and quality, which is a top priority in the execution of every project.”
Kacper Kostrzewa, BC-Wind Project Director, Ocean Winds

The certification of the BC-Wind wind farm will include compliance assessment at every stage of the project, covering design, production, installation, transport, and commissioning. As part of the cer-tification process, two key certificates required by Polish law will be issued: the Project Compliance Certificate, which will confirm that the project documentation meets technical standards, and the Operational Approval Certificate, which will ensure that the construction process aligns with the project and allow the commencement of wind farm operations.

The signed agreement with Bureau Veritas Polska represents a significant step towards the success-ful execution of the BC-Wind project, adhering to the highest industry standards and international safety norms. Through this collaboration, Ocean Winds will ensure that all components of the wind farm—from turbines and foundations to export cables—meet rigorous technical requirements, en-suring safe and efficient operation of the wind farm for many years to come.
